NHIS
Kicks Off Three-Race Championship Run
for Sean Caisse
Young Driver and ASM Team Out To Seal
The Deal This Time at Loudon
CONCORD,
NC (September 7, 2006)
--
Unlike most sports, there is no time
clock in motorsports. There are no
timeouts and no two-minute warnings.
There is, however, a calendar, and the
2006 NASCAR Busch East Series season is
winding that down to a conclusion.
20-year-old driver Sean Caisse is fully
aware that the final three events of the
year are quickly approaching and that
they will come at him just as hard as
his fellow BES competitors have done for
the entire season.
On
September 16th, Caisse and
the number-44 Casella Waste Systems team
for Andy Santerre Motorsports will hit
New Hampshire International Speedway for
the New Hampshire 125 event with hopes
of starting their stretch run in their
bid for the 2006 BES championship on a
high note. Caisse enters NHIS second in
points, 44-points behind championship
leader Mike Olsen. Had it not been for
a mechanical problem at Thompson
International Speedway earlier this
season, the championship lead may very
well have been Caisse's at this point,
but the deficit now means that Caisse
and the ASM team have to focus on
getting as many points that they can at
NHIS, Dover and Lime Rock, the last
three races of the year.
"I've
basically just been points racing as
much as I can all year and just been
picking up wins when they fall into
place," said Caisse. "We're 44 points
back, we need to win this race. We
don't have an option. Coming into
Loudon, I want to win the race and lead
as many laps as I can so that I can get
some bonus points. You get five points
for leading a lap and another five for
leading the most laps, so that's 10
points that I can knock off right away
in that race.
"I'm
pretty confident that when we get to
Loudon and Dover and win one of those
races and run well in the other, we can
have the points lead going into Lime
Rock. I don't want to be going
into Lime Rock for the last race on a
road course having to play catch-up at a
place like that. I want to be at
Lime Rock to maintain a lead."
Caisse
may be conscientious about points at
Dover and Lime Rock, but he is focused
on first things first. New Hampshire
International Speedway in Loudon, NH saw
one of the most dominant performances in
recent BES memory put on by Caisse and
his Casella number-44, but a tire issue
with 10 laps remaining back in July cost
Caisse the victory. This time out,
Caisse and the ASM team have made the
necessary changes to be sure that they
can finish off the domination.
"The
good part about going back to Loudon is
that we found out what we did wrong the
first time. We just had too much camber
gain to start the race, and that's what
happened to us the last 10 laps, but we
had a very dominant racecar.
"We're
not taking the same car that we had the
first time. We're running the car that
Mike Stefanik won with there last year.
We put a new body on and went through
the whole car and it's my favorite
piece. Not only that, but we're running
a different engine than we ran before.
I'm pretty sure we're going to be
running the new spec engine and I'm
pretty optimistic about it. We ran
Waterford with that motor and set the
track record with it. I think we could
be more dominant than we were the first
time. With some good pit strategy and
if we can keep that right front under
us, we'll be good."
The New
Hampshire 125 at New Hampshire
International Speedway is scheduled to
take the green flag on Saturday
September 16th live and in
high-definition on HDNet at 12pm.
