LOUDON,
N.H. - Sean Caisse
is on the fast track to
NASCAR
stardom.
The Pelham, N.H.,
native, who is flirting
with winning his first
career Busch East
championship this
season, will make his
NASCAR Busch series
debut for Kevin Harvick
Inc. at Delaware's Dover
International Speedway
on Sept. 23.
"I'm really excited and
Kevin Harvick has given
me the opportunity of a
lifetime," Caisse said.
Harvick, a regular in
the NASCAR Nextel Cup
series for Richard
Childress Racing, also
owns with his wife,
DeLana, a team that
races two cars in Busch
and the Craftsman Truck
series.
The 20-year-old Caisse,
who cut his teeth at Lee
USA Speedway in Lee, N.H.,
was recommended to
Harvick by four-time
Busch East champ Andy
Santerre. Caisse, the
2005 Busch East Rookie
of the Year, drives for
Andy Santerre
Motorsports of
Charlotte, N.C.
"(Santerre) has really
made me look good this
season, and it really
gives me a chance to
showcase my talent,"
Caisse said.
With three races
remaining, Caisse is
trailing 2001 Busch East
champ Mike Olsen by 44
points. In eight starts
Caisse has three wins,
five top-fives and two
top-10 finishes. He has
started from the pole in
four races.
In July, Caisse finished
second to eventual race
winner Olsen in a
thrilling final-lap
battle. Caisse will
start second in
tomorrow's New Hampshire
125 after qualifying was
rained out yesterday.
The field was set
according to the
standings.
"This is a high-profile
race for us," Santerre
said. "These next three
(Busch East) races are
going to be a challenge
for us."
After tomorrow's race,
Caisse will compete at
Dover in his No. 44
Busch East car and
finish out the season at
the road course in
Lakeville, Conn., on
Sept. 30.
Olsen, meanwhile, is up
for the challenge. "I'm
ready for a battle,"
Olsen said. "This is
going to be a good
battle that should go
right down to the wire."
Caisse spent time with
Harvick and the No. 33
team last month at
Bristol Motor Speedway
in Tennessee. Caisse
will replace struggling
KHI driver Aaron Fike.
KHI will not officially
make an announcement
until Monday, but team
spokesman Chip Williams
told the Herald this
week that Caisse has
inked a one-race deal.
