After a year in the
making, Showdown officially debuted
on
www.nascarlocalracing.com.
Covering the NASCAR Grand National Division,
East and West Series, Showdown is an
audio webcast streamed from the website, and
will broadcast each race week during the
entire NGND season with 16 shows in all.
Simply click on the Showdown logo
located on the home page as well as on all
interior pages … it's worth a listen.
A new era in this website's development
Showdown is comprised of three main
interview segments that will explore topical
issues, issues that effect teams, sponsors
and fans. This inaugural program will focus
on the spec engine and composite bodies,
providing a first hand view from NASCAR
officials on why they made these changes and
their expectations regarding the changes.
The premier show's guests are Dick Berggren
from Speedway Illustrated Magazine,
providing a colorful history of the series
and its future, and thoughts on the spec
engine and composite body. Richard Buck,
NASCAR's head of R&D for the series, who
will discuss the spec engine and composite
body in detail, and why NASCAR elected to
introduce new technologies into the series,
and Jason Christley, NASCAR's Manager of
Communications for the series.
According to D. Russell Capasso, Executive
Producer, "Showdown has been a year in the
making. Much trial and error with format
changes, interview styles, topics worthy of
covering, coupled with finding the right
host, which we have in Kim Hart, veteran
broadcaster and MRN pit announcer for the
Craftsman Truck and Busch Series. It's been
exciting to say the least."
The idea behind Showdown
The simple answer: to provide a multimedia
dimension to the website to enhance our
viewers' experience with the various series
the site covers. In addition to audio, this
year we'll be including more video
interviews, for example, and are currently
working on a live leader board for NGND
events. The NGND was selected because of the
many changes going on in the series and the
importance NASCAR is placing on the series,
particularly with respect to it becoming a
more nationally-recognized series. |
